Thank you for visiting the Nebraska State
Volunteer Firefighters Association website.
The NVFC “Individual Assistance Application” is an
application for funds established by the National Volunteer
Fire Council to assist active volunteer firefighters, rescue
workers and EMS personnel whose home/housing has been
impacted by a state or federally declared disaster. NSVFA
members’ dues help support the NSVFA membership in the
National Volunteer Fire Council which has resulted in this
benefit being offered to NSVFA department members that may
have suffered a financial loss due to the recent storms.
Individuals must meet certain criteria as outlined on the
application and the applications must be signed by the chief
of the applicant’s department and are to be reviewed and
signed by the applicant’s state fire association NVFC
Director which is Mr. Norman Hoeft of David City for the
NSVFA.
Persons meeting the criteria outlined in the application and
who desire to apply, may print the application from the NVFC
web site at
http://nvfc.org/index.php?id=813 or call the NSVFA
office for a copy. Completed applications require approval
(by signature) of the chief of the person’s department and
the completed application should be returned “for review” to
Mr. Norman Hoeft or Mr. John Bomar, NSVFA NVFC
Representative and Alternate Representative respectively,
whose addresses and phone numbers appear below. After their
review, they will submit the applications to the NVFC.
Questions may also be addressed to Norman or John.

LEGISLATIVE
PLANNING MEETING HELD AUGUST 11, 2007
2008 LEGISLATIVE GOALS ANNOUNCED
August 11, 2007, a Legislative Planning Meeting
was held in York, Nebraska attended by representatives of the
NSVFA Executive Board, Nebraska Fire Chiefs’ Association
Executive Board, and Legislative and EMS Committee members of
both associations.
The next 2008 Nebraska Legislature opens a
“short session”, January 2, 2008. Following a very successful
inaugural event held this past January during the 2007
Legislative Session, the NSVFA and Nebraska Fire Chiefs are
again planning a “Breakfast with the Senators Appreciation
event” on Monday, January 28, 2008, from 7:30am to 9:00am with a
briefing session for NSVFA representatives scheduled at 7:00am
to be conducted by Lobbyist, Gerald Stilmock. This event will
be held at the State Capitol in Room 1023.

The Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters
Association
Needs your membership!
All Volunteer Fire Departments or Companies,
Combination Volunteer/Career Fire Departments, Suburban Fire
Protection Districts or Rural Fire Protection Districts, and
Industrial Fire Brigades are eligible for membership in the
NSVFA. Your membership will speak as a stronger voice in
guiding the future of all Fire & Emergency Services in Nebraska
and give individual firefighters a voice and vote in the
Association.
Why should you be a member of the NSVFA?
What's
in it for you? There's more to our association than hoses
and helmets. When your department joins the NSVFA, here's
just a couple reasons what's in it for you:
-
Professional Development.
-
Nebraska State Fire School Class Fee
Discount.
-
Accidental Death/Dismemberment
Insurance.
-
Legislative Updates.
-
Recognition.
-
Committee Involvement.
As a member you have the opportunity to serve
and work on a committee. The NSVFA is also proud of its
other support groups which include the Old Timers Association
and the
Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters
Association Auxiliary.
The larger our membership, the better the NSVFA
will be. You can't participate from the outside looking
in. For a complete list of how membership in the NSVFA
will benefit your department, please visit our
